Call to Action: A Health Canada Proposal

Call to Action: A Health Canada Proposal

According to the Canadian Health Food Association (CHFA), 70% of Canadians take and use ultra-safe and effective natural health products (NHPs) and are confident in the current licensing of NPNs; it’s the envy of most other countries and this is about to change.

It is true, Canada is the envy of the world and for many reasons; today I am addressing just two: ethnic diversity and health care.

You have heard the statement “if it is not broken, don’t try to fix it”; this is one such example.

For example, take the cough syrup Benylin with codeine and the Chinese herbal cough medicine Pei Pa Koa, with licorice, honey, dandelion and kumquat; they are hardly the same, and for good reason. One is associated with a list of warnings and health risks, and the other is completely natural and ultra- safe.

On September 15, 2016, I was in Toronto at the Canadian Health Food Association’s (CHFA) Members Only Regulations Meeting, where Health Canada revealed their plans.Health Canada means to confuse the public regarding the ultra- safe category NPNs by putting them in the same category as over the counter drugs.  This action will change how 70% of Canadians choose for health care of all ethnic origins --be it of Chinese, traditional, herbal, Ayurveda, native Indian, or homeopathic medicine.

Canada is known for racial tolerance and ethnic diversity. Our population works because we are inclusive of others’ cultures on most levels, including health care. Secondly, we are known for our health care, including over the counter (OTC) drugs and natural health products (NHPs) with the licensing designation of natural product number (NPN). These are fully registered and supported by Health Canada based on clinical evidence. In Canada, we have OTCs and NPNs sitting side by side on store shelves--why? Because we allow the freedom of choice regarding the method of health care we choose for ourselves and our families.

NHPs were first introduced by the Standing Committee on Health in 1998 by then Health Minister Alan Rock. Through consultation and with full government approval, NHPs with NPNs became law in 2012, after taking 12 years of government consultation.

Health Canada notified CHFA 4 days before the regulations meeting about this sudden change, and gave 6 weeks to close consolation. Keep in mind, they are changing what had been negotiated for 12 years and working perfectly well for 4 years with only 6 weeks’ notice. This apparently is not a Liberal government initiative. They are far too busy dealing with legalizing cannabis and assisted suicide to worry about changing the way ultra-safe NHPs are being sold. If this is not a Liberal government initiative, then who else would benefit from having a single health category? Could it be Big Pharma who is pressing the bureaucrats of Health Canada for a bigger piece of the 70% Canadian health pie?

Again, how can you compare the herb feverfew to extra strength Tylenol for treating headaches? Why is Health Canada rushing this? Why are they not consulting the CHFA, as they did while creating NPNs?

Did you know that Bayer has hundreds of "use patents” on isolated constituents found in natural botanicals? These patents don't do them much good if the actual herb they are derived from is still available from natural and health store markets. But now that Bayer is ready to move, is their game to pressure the right bureaucrats to demand clinical trials for the most "high risk" products? Is it a coincidence that these products just happen to dove-tail nicely with the products that contain molecules on which Bayer holds patents and conducts clinical trials?

Do you want your tax dollars spent on new bureaucratic regulations that help promote companies like Bayer, who just bought out Monsanto—the same company that is killing all our bees with their Neonics and contaminating our foods with glyphosate?

As far as I know, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said “Diversity is Canada's Strength!" Canada stands for ethnic diversion and our health care is no exception. Please join me in the fight to send a strong message to the bureaucrats of Health Canada to back off and let the people decide the best way to treat their bodies and their health. Our natural health products are not high risk prescription drugs and should not be regulated as such. Yet Health Canada intends to fast track through yet another revised set of drug style regulations without any parliamentary oversight. You stand to lose many of the homeopathics, herbs, and vitamins you depend on for your health.

The CHFA is currently running a campaign entitled "Our Natural Health Products Are Not Drugs." Please support them by sending your MP a letter.

Helping Those Suffering with Diabetes--Especially the First Nations Community

Helping Those Suffering with Diabetes--Especially the First Nations Community

A recent Alberta study found that First Nations people are more likely to develop diabetes in their lifetime. In the general population of youth, the estimated diabetes risk is 5 out of 10. In First Nations communities, the estimated risk is 8 out of 10 youth.

Generally speaking, there are 3 main causes for diabetes: genetics, behaviour (diet/exercise), and environment. In the case of the Native population, the environmental factor may play a more crucial role than people realize. If First Nations people live in an area where fresh food is unattainable or expensive, it can be more difficult to maintain the healthy lifestyle needed to stave off diabetes.

First Nations are not the only culture affected by the rising prevalence of diabetes. It is
anticipated that there will be a 141% increase in the number of cases of type 2 diabetes in Africa, amounting to 34.2 million patients with type 2 diabetes in sub-Sahara Africa by 2040. In Kenya, diabetes prevalence is 4–11% in urban areas and 3% in rural areas.

Vanadyl Sulfate has proven to be useful for diabetes.
The Journal of Clinical Investigationfound that oral Vanadyl Sulfate taken for 3 weeks helped hepatic and peripheral insulin sensitivity in people with non-insulin-dependent diabetes. In another single-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study, 8 male and female subjects who had Type 2 diabetes took 50mg of vanadyl sulfate twice each day for 4 weeks. After that time, a 4 week placebo phase was instituted. The patients experienced some improvements in both fasting glucose and hepatic insulin resistance following the trial period and throughout the placebo period. However, it is important to note that those with a medical condition such as diabetes still should be under the care of a health care professional for monitoring.

In 2006, the American Journal of Physiology published a
study on the effects of L-Arginine supplementation on obese, insulin-resistant Type 2 Diabetes patients. Thirty three patients participated in a hypocaloric diet and exercise program for 21 days. The patients were then split into two groups, and one group also took L-Arginine, while the other took placebos. At the end of the study, scientists found that those supplementing with L-Arginine had better results in the areas of glucose metabolism, insulin sensitivity, endothelial function, oxidative stress, and adipokine release than those who did not take Arginine.

Chromium Picolinate has been shown to enhance glucose metabolism, which makes it promising for cardiovascular disease, as well, since cholesterol influences cellular glucose uptake. The journal
Mutation Research found that Chromium Picolinate upregulates a protein (sterol regulatory element-binding protein) responsible for controlling cholesterol balance. Interestingly, this protein is only increased in an environment of high-glucose cells, much like a diabetic state would be.

Supplements are always important, but especially for communities that may not have access to a healthy diet, supplements are crucial. Doctor's Choice is professional, therapeutic medicine you can depend on.

Toxins Contribute to a Variety of Mental Issues

Toxins Contribute to a Variety of Mental Issues

At first glance, conditions such as ADHD, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and autism do not seem to have much in common. However, they are all connected by a chemical imbalance within the brain. Of the three, ADHD and autism receive the most recognition.

Those with CFS often
struggle to be recognized. In March, although scientists were originally encouraged to submit proposals for studying CFS--the first study of its kind--they were later rejected. The reason given by the review panel was they did not recognize it as a disease, but as something all in patients' heads.

However, this may not be the case.

In 2011, Judy Mikovitz, PhD, discovered a
link between gammaretrovirus XMRV and chronic fatigue syndrome and autism. Retroviruses damage DNA, also causing immune and neurological damage in the process. Mikovitz believes that due to a laboratory error, this damaging retrovirus may be in up to one third of vaccines.

Environmental toxins exacerbate these issues. Radiation, wifi poisoning, air and water borne toxins and GMOs all contribute to a decline in health.

As World Suicide Day was observed earlier this week, it is a good time to stand with those who are suffering and offer hope.

Our only defence is awareness and prevention by means of organic food; clean water and air; and professionally produced, therapeutic natural medicine.

Studies have shown that DMAE has the ability to enhance brain functions at the higher level and can compensate for various neuropsychological deficits ranging from cognitive processes to aging itself. DMAE greatly reduces the lipofusion from brain and nerve cells and is able to cross the blood brain barrier. It has proven to be a safe alternative for such learning and behavior problems as Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Hyperkinesia.

CFS is inter-related with adrenal fatigue--both conditions are connected by lack of adrenaline due to the adrenal glands' failure to function properly, largely due to stress. This is caused by an endocrine imbalance. A balanced dose of adrenal and thyroid glands, such as our HgH+ or Thyroid Support homeopathic could restore the balance.

For memory, fatigue, and the misfiring of neurons, Neurotransmitter Support is also greatly helpful. See a review from one satisfied customer

Supplement Users, Do You Read Labels, Do You know What You Are Taking Into Your Body?

Supplement Users, Do You Read Labels, Do You know What You Are Taking Into Your Body?

As companies become more sophisticated, customers must become more sophisticated, as well. This means some homework on purchases--especially purchases intended to promote health. Otherwise, it is entirely possible to sink a good deal of money into products that are ineffective at best and dangerous at worst.

Consider the following ingredients in the most popular one-a-day supplement, Centrum, courtesy of
Meghan Telpner:

Calcium as Calcium Carbonate: This is the least absorbable form of calcium on the market. A very small percentage is actually absorbed.

Magnesium as Magnesium Oxide: The least absorbable, cheapest form of magnesium.

Iron as Ferrous Fumarate: This form of iron is incredibly constipating.

B Vitamins: Citing anywhere from 1.1 mg to 15 mg per vitamin is a concentration so low as to have no impact on energy levels, as outlined in their claims.

Nickelous Sulfate and Tin: We have been unable to locate any references discussing a need for humans to
supplement with nickel or tin.

As the label lists more non-medicinal ingredients than medicinal ingredients, here is an overview of some of those, as well:

Pregelatinized Corn Starch: This is used as a binder to hold all of the ingredients together. It most likely a genetically modified corn, which presents a number of problems for sensitive people.

Talc: Has been implicated with increased risk of cancer.

Gelatin: Though not inherently a bad product, most of is manufactured from feed lot animal waste, which means vegans and vegetarians best beware.

BHT: Butylated hydroxyanisole has been shown to be toxic to the liver, thyroid, kidney, lungs, and affecting blood coagulation. BHT can act as a tumour promoter.

Yellow 6 Lake: Why is there food colouring in a health supplement? Also known as tartrazine or FD&C Yellow #6, this chemical is banned in some European countries. Side effects of ingestion can include gastric upset, diarrhea, vomiting, nettle rash (urticaria), swelling of the skin (angioedema) and migraines. It is also linked to hyperactivity in young children.

Red 40 Lake: Contains chemical compounds, including benzidine and 4-aminobiphenyl which research has linked with cancer.

Hydrogenated Palm Oil: Hydrogenating any oil converts the fat into an unnatural structure that has shown to be toxic to the body. It forms strong free radicals associated with increased risk of cancer and heart disease.

Maltodextrin: Several studies have linked maltodextrin consumption to the suppression of “good bacteria” in the digestive system increasing risk of gastro symptoms and intestinal inflammation.

Crospovidone: There is an abundance of documented cases of serious allergenic response.

Sodium Benzoate: Especially dangerous because of its destructive effect on DNA. This means that the sodium benzoate consumed today may still be causing problems in future generations. Sodium benzoate is known to specifically attack the mitochondria of DNA.

Doctor's Choice® Next Generation B Complex is completely vegan, non-GMO, organic plant-based with the world's only Vegetarian Society and Vegan Society registered Vitamin D-3 (lichen). Plant-based nutrients such as Shiitake Mushrooms, Acerola Berries, Vitamin E from Fruit Palm, Spirulina, Vitamin D-3 from Lichen, in a base of organic Spinach, turmeric, ginger and blueberry.

The Anti-aging Effects of Daily HGH Release

The Anti-aging Effects of Daily HGH Release

As children, we look forward to our birthdays, but there comes a certain age when they are no longer anticipated, partly because aging is associated with the negative effects of growing old: lack of energy, graying hair (if lucky enough to have hair), facial wrinkles, menopause, weight gain and flaccid muscle tissue, prostate issues and forgetfulness. With these thoughts in mind, it is no wonder birthdays for some are not joyous events. These conditions are connected with premature aging or aging at an advanced rate, but what if these conditions could be greatly lessened and not be so horrendous and worrisome? Wouldn’t that take the edge off, if we could slow down the aging process? Aging is a part of life and as each calendar year passes it should be seen as an added blessing, especially if healthy and vibrant.

Once born, we begin to grow and for growth to happen we need adequate human growth hormone (HGH). HGH is produced by the anterior pituitary gland. Dwarfism is results of inadequate HGH release.

By the age of 30, most have used up their HGH. In prior years, they were riding high with HGH. HGH is responsible for the repair and regeneration of human tissue throughout our lives, but by the time we reach our 30th year, HGH levels are only about 20 percent of their peak levels during childhood, and after the age of 30, they continue to decline at about 12 to 15 percent per decade, and often much more depending on the circumstances.

The decline in HGH is not the only cause of the manifestations of aging. Even if our HGH levels remained at the level of a 25 year-old, we would continue to experience the effects of aging, but those effects would be greatly reduced until we reached a very advanced age. HGH does not affect the root cause of aging, as measured by maximum lifespan, but it can certainly affect many of the manifestations of aging.
By increasing the levels of HGH in our bodies, we can slow, or even reverse, many of the manifestations of aging.

Life Choice Homeopathic HgH+ offers a safe, economical alternative to injections, in a formulation supported by Adrenalinum for the adrenal system, Thyroidinum for the thyroid, Pituitarum Posterium for the pituitary, and Insulin for the pancreas, in order to ensure proper absorption and maximum benefit. This formula offers a way to enhance immune response, increase lean body mass, stimulate neuro-endocrine system balance, and achieve optimal physical and mental performance. Its homeopathic preparation achieves these benefits by encouraging the body to produce more of the hormone on its own, “reminding” it of its proper function at the sub-molecular level.  Our HgH+ is designed not to replace one’s own endocrine glands or to cause dependency, but to support the glands’ own production. Homeopathic preparations are generally regarded as safe by all authorities, due to their extreme dilution, which renders their active ingredients nearly undetectable by the most sophisticated of measurements.

There is no other single therapy currently available that can have the impact on the aging body that HGH can have. If you would like to learn more, please visit our
HgH+ product page for details.
