Supplements for Times of Stress

Although it is not receiving as much global attention as previously, the fires at Fort McMurray are still burning. Pushing north, the fires reached a large oil-sands work camp, the Blacksands Executive Lodge, as of May 17.

First, we would like to offer heartfelt condolences to those from Ft. McMurray and area who have suffered and are still suffering such great losses. We have some great customers in that area, as well, and they are especially on our minds at this time.

While those who were exposed to the fires may not have been able to keep the flames from affecting their possessions, they can still safeguard a crucial aspect of life: health.

As Environment Canada has issued
warnings for very poor air quality, supplementing is more important now than ever--especially for those in Northern Alberta. In that sense, it is timely that our new B Complex will be releasing soon.

Doctor's Choice® B Complex is a completely vegan, non-GMO, organic plant-based B-Complex, with the world’s only Vegetarian Society and Vegan Society registered Vitamin D-3 (others are from fish oils or from sheep’s wool). It has added B-12 (methylcobalamin), Biotin and PABA in a proprietary blend of spinach, blueberry, turmeric and ginger, all sourced organically.

Our B Complex is formulated to help with a host of conditions, including stress management and brain health. In 2011, a
study examined the effects of a high-dose B complex on 60 participants over the course of 3 months. The participants, previously experiencing chronic work stress, reported that after 12 weeks of supplementation, they experienced "significantly lower personal strain and a reduction in confusion and depressed/dejected mood."

Overall brain health can also be positively effected from Vitamin B. High levels of homocysteine in the brain can contribute to brain atrophy, and
studies have found that increased vitamin B intake can reduce plasma homocysteine--in fact, one study found that homocysteine was reduced in the specific brain regions most prone to Alzheimer's development.

As an added help for stress, we recommend GABA. Research done at The Pain & Stress Therapy Centre in San Antonio Texas has shown pure GABA 750 mg can mimic the tranquillizing effects of Valium or Librium without the possibility of addiction or fear of being sedated. GABA fills the receptors in the brain and feeds the brain what should be there. Pure GABA dissolves in water; it is tasteless, odorless, and the calming results occur within 10 to 12 minutes.
